A LONG day of breaking trail in 2-4" of snow to begin with on Greely Ponds trail, transitionins to 9 to 12+ on the ascents to East Osceola (drifts to 2 feet in spots).
Broken out as best as 3 people with snowshoes can! The numerous vertical bits had underlying ice so after 3 foot whacks at getting through the snow your aggressive snowshoe cleat was just able to get some grip.
A rope was used in a spot and could have come in useful in a few others.
The chimney is basically a technical ice climb at the moment and the bypass has lots of snow on rock and very dangerous.
We bypassed the bypass and bushwhacked through the woods where at least there was something to hold on to in the trees.
We traversed from the Kanc to Tripoli so we didn't have to go back the way we came which would have been horrible.
We all lived and with the road walk it ended up being almost 10 miles :-)
