| Comments: |
Wore snow shoes all day. Even Zealand Road had a few new inches of snow on top of the base. Water crossings no problem. From Hut to Zealand: faint tracks from day before to top of ridge, then deep snow and drifts all the way to Zealand. It was a lot of work in snow shoes- cannot imagine barebooting. A couple staying at Z Hut had set off that morning up Hale, so could not resist following their tracks. Snow depth increased considerably after passing South Hale. No sign of tracks down Hale Brook, but evidence from consolidated trough. Not much trouble breaking with the aid of gravity. |
