Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One step over about 1/2 mile before Kinsman Ridge jct.; quick 30 second job with any saw (wish I'd had mine). Some duck unders on Kinsman Ridge. One of the best maintained trails; thanks trail adopter. Easy to follow tracks in winter but I bet this trail would be easily followed with the excellent blazing when no tracks to be seen.

Comments
Comments: Somewhere along I-93 drive I decided on Kinsmans and was not disappointed. Middle teens, minimal wind and views late afternoon. I used rock spikes up to Bald Peak jct., then sharp spikes to North Kinsman and snowshoes from there to car. This route (at end of Saturday) was a very smooth path. Group of 6 had shoed up on ridge over to South so KRT was nicely packed and group ahead of me going down Mt. Kinsman Tr. used shoes as well so any trail that was chopped up was far smoother at day's end. Hardly any ice above Bald Mt. Spur jct.. Surprised to find the worst section being the lower 1 1/2 miles where it was 1-3 inches of new snow over lots of ice. I skated on it several times with spikes going up and then shoes going down. Almost broke out the Hillsound Trail Pros on the way down. Obviously will change but if hiking after new snow and one stays in trench it should still be nice.
