Went up and down via Valley Way, Trail is mostly solid to the hut with a few icy spots that can be easily managed. As been reported recently above treeline it is mostly exposed rock, microspikes will take a beating. There is very little snow and there were others bare booting it, not a typical late January day in the Northern Presidentials. Strong winds up on Madison this morning, Adams was not too bad though. It will be picking up tonight and as I write this winds are gusting over 70 mph on Washington.
Was initially planing on heading over to Jefferson but with a later start than expected and the forecast of 85mph gusts later in the day I chose not to push it, though I another hiker I talked to was planning on heading over. |
