| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parked at Basin - snow/ice in lot, but still doable for 2WD. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Ice - Blue, Standing/Running Water on Trail |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
The largest crossing is ice bridged (still a bit flimsy), while the others are easily crossed with light traction. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
We were able to remove all of the somewhat vexing blowdowns on both trails. Two stepovers remain on Liberty Springs, to be covered up after a moderate snowfall. |

| Comments: |
Trails were ideal for Microspikes. Generally 1-2" of powder over a small hardpack surface, with some blue ice bulges on the steeps on Liberty Spring. A few open/thawed areas as usual in the lower elevations on Libery Spring. Franconia Ridge Trail from Liberty to Flume has enough of a base for snowshoeing, but booting seemed fine with no postholing. Liberty Spring Trail would have been torture to attempt to snowshoe due to lack of base. |
