Shout out to the maintainer of Mt. Kinsman Trail! Very easy to follow, even in the lower section with big open woods and tricky spots that looked like junctions! |

Excellent day on a new trail! The snow was hard packed up until Bald Peak, but after that the Mt. Kinsman Trail was a post-holed mess. The 1.6 up from Bald Peak definitely felt WAY longer than the first lovely two miles, but we made it to the KRT eventually. KRT was totally packed down, and made for a relatively easy ascent to both North and South peaks. Coming back down Mt. Kinsman Trail was worse than the ascent-- the warm weather made the snow softer. It felt like spring! Took us book time for the whole hike, and we're definitely not the fastest. |
