The trail was lumpy and uneven on the way up but a few bare booters chopped it up some more and myself and another guy with snowshoes smoothed it back out some. If e anyone wears snow shoes this weekend it would be in great shape once it gets cold again. The old section of trail is currently more popular, skipping the Carrigain Notch Tr jctn, although that route has been tracked out. I wore snowshoes start to finish but any footwear would be fine for Sawyer River Rd. The road is closed to snowmobiles right now so may require extra trailbreaking after the act snowfall. It was nice chatting with a few guys from Canada at the summit that were working on their 111.
