From the Lafayette Campground parking lot to the Kinsmen Ridge Trail it was packed, somewhat icy snow and microspikes were fine. There is a steep portion of the trail just before the summit that was too icy and would have been better suited to crampons. We met several hikers in snowshoes and microspikes who had also decided to turn back at that point. |
