Dan and I had a very nice day in the mountains--a good, blue sky day to appreciate the beauty of the Scaur Ridge Trail. we used snowshoes on Livermore, after the grooming ended, just to ride over the chop, which was mostly from a lot of moose traffic. WE then switched to HHP crampons and HH spikes the rest of the way. Traction-wise it was easy going the entire way. There were a few deep post holes here and there, probably from Saturday when the snow wasn't completely frozen yet, but they were easily avoided, and we rarely sank in at all, with the snow now well frozen. Scaur was well packed out from Livermore, even though there had been no NET Cpostings for it. |
