What a gorgeous day!!! Polecat Trail closed for skiing but they are making a ton of snow at present. Some hard blue ice in spots though mostly groomed snow at this point made for easy ascent. Goal today was A so we skipped D on ascent via bushwack. Wildcat Ridge Trail had some serious blue ice in places but mostly snow..Looked like a couple had been through there yesterday with snowshoes to pack it out. Excellent views along the way..We did not linger long at A as there was a cold breeze there. I had my spikes on most of the day and they were adequate. Snow depths varied but only 8-10 inches in places though the platform has 18 inches or so...snow shoes would have been overkill today .. On the way out we climbed D where last weeks icy chutes were snowed in a bit which made for easy going and lingered on the tower ..20 degrees no wind ..perfect..fun descent on the ski trail ..spikes excellent as there was a mix of conditions... |
