About 1" of styrofoam snow with an icy crust beneath in the bottoms. Snow increased to several inches higher up, but also styrofoam conditions, but more ice. Great conditions for traction. I wore my spikes to the base of the gully and switched to crampons for the steeps. I left them on across both peaks and back down. I could have switched back to spikes on the ridge, but was too lazy. Crampons recommended for the steeps. Using spikes would be borderline. Stream crossings were easy with wet boots. A few minor blow downs. Turned out to be a great day, with no wind and mild temps. I even saw some sun and blue sky today for a change. I had the trail to myself.
