Well with a late start and being solo.. i started just after 1 with skiis on my pack so i could make a quick descent down. There were many people out for the winter solstice start. I have all but two for my winter and so i needed a quick one to add to my 50 year gridding haha. A guy in the lot said leave the anowshoes for weight and bring the spikes so i did that. Well i wish i had them for my televators. It was nicely packed other than the sosman trail had maybe 2 sets of snowshoe track so i sunk in only a couple times. My feet did not like the cold and my phone dided at the peak so i missed photos of the aunset. I got to the ski trails that had the snowmaking and it was getting dark. So i put my skiis on as fast as i could and headed down. Of course i see a groomer and he was going the exact way i was going. Unfortunately he got in front of me ans i had to go his pace. He did stop for a moment so i took off skiing down. A lot faster than if i had walked but man my thighs were on fire. I took a lot longer up than expected but the down was quick. So all and all decent but cold day for my feet. |
