Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The Ravine Lodge road is a solid sheet of ice from Rt 118 to the Lodge. Even 4 wheel drive vehicles could get no further than the "Winter Parking Lot" of last year. Although all gates were open the 2nd above the Winter Parking lot might as well be closed.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Ice - Blue
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The bridge across the Baker River at the Lodge is "compromised" and barricaded. Rock hopping the river is easy enough although the rocks are icy and you will need spikes. The hard part is getting down the bank on the South side. Similar to 3rd Little River crossing.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: In good condition. Thank you.

Comments
Comments: If the excitement is gone from your life I recommend you drive up the Ravine Lodge road as far as you can, turn around any way you can (which will be excitement enough) then attempt to drive back down the road. There is nothing quite as exciting as sliding sideways in a car down an icy hill.

Lower third of Gorge Brook mostly rocks with ice between. Middle third rocks and ice starting to get buried. Upper third rocks buried beneath nice firm trench which could be bare booted. And, of course, above tree line just lots of ice and rocks.

Go to Glencliff trail.
