 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
On Gale River Trail 2 large step-overs and a bog bridge with a log missing that didn't seem like a big deal the last time I went over it in dry conditions however, today I stayed low and opted to pick my way around the rocks/debris and used the bridge as a hand rail instead pushing my luck. |

Shoes (low slip-on type camp shoes) on the porch. I decided to leave them due to the way they appeared intentionally tucked under the bench. |

 | Comments: |
Mostly bare trail to start with minor muddy sections, the mud was partially frozen and springy soft with a dusting of snow that increased to a few inches. After the second water crossing the trail is in great shape with a packed base, the new snow coverage made for decent traction barebooting. I stopped for hot tea and adjustments at the Gale River/Garf. Ridge junction and intended to put spikes on there, but I didn't find it necessary this morning. All the snow on the Frost Trail makes you forget how unforgiving the footing is normally. Although I didn't use traction at all today, this was a rare occasion and some might want it.
Didn't see any other hikers out today. As a side note - there wasn't any tracks heading up Twinway. Excellent day out in lightly falling snow, thanks to Buffalo Girl for the good company.
