It was warmer then I anticipated and there had been some melting since Tuesday. The trail was ice alternating with rocks and bare dirt until past the Webster and Jackson Branch junction. Enough melted and refrozen ice on the entire trail to warrant wearing spikes for its entirety. Better coverage of snow on the upper portion of Jackson Branch until just after the scrambles and then it was back to bare rock at the summit. Wonderful sunshine and clear views for our time at the summit. Even warmer in the afternoon causing more melting on the lower half of the trail. |
