The Air Line trail just before treeline has a lot of blowdowns across the trail. We managed to walk over and/or around them, but they are numerous. Came down Valley Way and that trail is good. Trace to dusting of snow down low and then the powder increases as you go up. The usual icy places on the Air Line trail are starting to build up and get harder. I managed with microspikes but almost switched to hillsounds. Above treeline there is drifted snow between the rocks so caution is needed to make sure you are stepping on a real rock and not into a snow drift between rocks. Kept microspikes on until the last 2 miles coming down Valley Way. |
