| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Just one car when I arrived shortly after 8am. Nice morning ride across the Kanc from 16. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Ice - Black, Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Ice - Blue, Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Ice - Breakable Crust, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Rock-hoppable. In the morning the rocks were glazed with ice, so I hopped over them with micro's. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Kudos to those who cleared the trails - amazing job! There are a couple minor step over, duck unders. The summit of east peak has a number of blowdowns that make the main trail impassable. Now, the trail meanders to the right of the summit cairn and joins the main trail. It's very obvious. |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw one adorable chocolate lab |
|
| Bugs: |
Finally, none. |

Wore micro's the entire way. I didn't bother with the chimney and headed up the bypass. I went down the bypass of the bypass to avoid any more blunting of the microspikes. Trail was icy in steeper sections - made good use of some trees. Did not need crampons like two seasons ago - micro's were enough. Toward Osceola summit there was more snow which made traction easier. Can't wait for more snow! |
