Trails
Trails: Garfield Trail, Garfield Ridge Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Monday, November 13, 2017
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Road was open Monday. Had an inch or two of fresh snow.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Ice - Blue, Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Avoided first using BW to snowmobile bridge, second crossing okay with care on icy rocks. Traction helpful.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Cleared 3 blowdowns on Mt. Garfield Trail. Three more large ones remain - they are easy step-overs in the first couple of miles of trail. Trail is otherwise in great shape. Cleared 51 blowdowns on the Garfield Ridge trail - mostly around the pond where we heard there were tangled clusters blocking the trail. All are gone and trail is passable for 1.3 miles from the Mt Garfield Tr junction. Did not have time to traverse the whole section, so more blowdowns could remain.
