|
| Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Ice - Breakable Crust |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Sketchy crossings of the Cascade Brook. Icy wet rocks and somewhat high water. Microspikes needed. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Many blowdowns on both trails. All were passable. We appear to have been the first ones descending the Israel Ridge trail since the storm. Lots of the blow downs haven't been de-limbed yet. That said, both trails are completely passable. |

Ascend via Castle Trail, Descend via Israel Ridge
Wonderful day out with Marie. De-limbed a couple of trees, but was running short of time and left more for later. The microspikes were most helpful on the descent down the Israel Ridge trail below tree line. The snow was deep enough to pad the spikes mostly from the rocks. |
