Nice snowy wonderland. OK without snowshoes but VERY slow until around 2500' when I put them on. There is no good option right now - still a little bony (5-6"ish of new fluffy snow) for snowshoes but was having trouble detecting rocks under the snow. The last couple miles every so often had large ice-flows, and, without switching back to crampons, made butt-sliding an occasional hazard. No views but nice anyway!!! I did not see a soul all day. |
