Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: We parked at the winter lot on Rt. 302. The gate on Zealand Rd. was closed, but not locked. Several cars were still at the trailhead at the end of Zealand Rd. in the morning, but gone by evening. The second gate one mile in near the snowmobile crossing is now gated and padlocked. The main gate on Rt. 302 was wide open when we left. Go figure?

Comments
Comments: The road walk was uneventful. Some crusty packed snow and ice. Zealand Falls Tr. had packed snow and ice with patches of bare ground. Twinway was ice, ice, and more ice. The worst place were the scrambles near the ladder. It's coated with bulge ice. We used Hillsound Spikes and Micro spikes and had no problems. Easier going up the scrambles than coming back down. All in all a good day with light winds and mild temps. Great hiking with Bruce P. today.
