Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Easily done on rocks; both current trail and old route.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: 3 blowdowns; first one about 10-15 minutes in, second one shortly before jct. with Carrigain Notch Tr. and third one just below upper switchbacks I believe. Third one could be problem with snow depths this winter.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Couple were debating using water from well near summit for their pooch. Hardly any available for last 2-3 miles.
Bugs: Many out but not bothering.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found:
Comments: First time I can recall having to park on road; busy day. Trails very dry; so dry that a hard, lengthy downpour may do lots of minor damage. Lots of leaf cover over the many softball sized rocks. On the way down I used the old (pre-Irene) trail and most of it is in pretty good condition; definitely still sees traffic. Wouldn't use the lowest section with normal water levels. Weathers been great for my vacation; sad it's ending soon.
