WOW! This is a top 3 of the 48 for me so far and I didn't even get much for views. What an awesome hike. I don't know why people complain so much about the trail conditions. It was nice to be rubbing up against the foliage all day and not be on a Presidential super highway trail for a change. Best part of the hike was getting to the top and seeing the incredible American flag flying high. Hats off to the folks I met up there. You should be SO proud of yourselves. Made me proud to be an American for sure and can't wait to hike on flags for 48 again. Came face to face on trail with moose which was cool. Sounds like lots of people ran into it that morning. Stopped at Unknown Pond for a nice IPA (okay two). What an incredible spot. I think next time I will camp there at the sites. I can't wait to hike Cabot again on a clear day. So nice to get away from the crowds. Didn't see a single person my entire way down. Oh yeah I called fish and game before my hike and they said the gate is open until 10:00 so I didn't have to rush. Not sure if that is just for the summer or not. |
