| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Plenty of parking along Haystack Rd. arriving at 8:30 on a Saturday. Crowds weren't bad at all either, although this was an excellent hike. |
| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
| Recommended Equipment: |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Not paricularly easy but certainly doable with a pair of waterproof boots and hiking poles for good measure. |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trail is in great shape overall. Couple blowdowns but nothing that couldn't be ducked under or stepped over. We followed the AMC trail all the way. |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw plenty of dogs out today, mainly 30-50 pounders with good athletic capability. Plenty of steeper scrambles and more technical sections a half mile or so before the summit. |
| Bugs: |
Nothing really, couple scatters but nothing to write home about. Breeze up top kept them down altogether. |
| Lost and Found: |
Nothing to report. |

Really amazing hike. Great effort getting up North Twin, but with nice variety to the trail, beautiful woods, and an immensely rewarding view up top.
Hike from N to S was relatively easy, took us ~35 minutes for the 1.3. South twin was more crowded but still not bad. Also, why do people open carry firearms on a hike? Bears? Moose? Grow up, there are kids around. Adult children if you ask me, and I love guns.
We hiked 9am or so till 3:15. Perfect amount of effort for our small group. Would recommend waterproof boots as the trail was considerably muddy in places. Overall great hike. |
