Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Water crossings were not an issue.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Two large blowdowns on the Great Gulf Trail (both require a chainsaw), as well as two large ones (chainsaw) and a small one (handsaw) on the Osgood Trail. All could be stepped around, under, or over (one).
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Our friends Tuckerman and Polly found plenty of water along the trail, as well as pretty easy going all day until the alpine zone -- the snow has not filled in the scree yet above treeline and it's tough to get a good pawhold.

Comments
Comments: We took a quick trip up to about 4400 feet to see if we could get some decent views of the Northern Presidentials with the new coating of recent snow; the clouds did not oblige so we turned back down the trail. Trails are covered with two inches of new snow on top of an inch or two of ice; some ice floes on steep section of Osgood Trail. Scree in alpine zone is covered with glaze ice and snow. Microspikes worked fine for all of this.
