Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The Dry River crossing on Mt. Clinton Trail was hopped easily, on dry rocks, at current water levels. All other crossings were easy hops.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Mt. Clinton Trail JUST got a lot of love. An AMC youth trail crew has been out on the trail the last three days, and it shows. Just a few short sections remain of somewhat grown in trail, but the rest has been thoroughly brushed out and defined. One obscure turn exists near the bottom (when descending from Mizpah), where the trail appears to continue straight on a side-hill, but descends to the right on a faint tread. There are several small cairns throughout to aid navigation, and most of the crossings are flagged. It appears there will be some work done on the upper section, as flagging exists for installation of water bars and steps. Several very muddy sections still exist, and the usual wilderness blowdowns, but the trail is just great now, a far cry from what it apparently was even three days ago!
Dog-Related Notes

Bugs
Bugs: A non-issue, too windy, and too cool at elevation early on.

Comments
Comments: What was expected to be punishment, turned into a really nice hike, on a trail that I was recently loathe to say I'd do again. Smooth sailing up to Mizpah, then we dropped into what was formerly one of the worst trails in the Whites. Turns out that the trail is really beautiful, when you're not having to swim through vegetation to find it. As above, there's still a lot of mud, and plentiful downed trees, but it's in a way better state now. I'll go so far as to say that I'll be using it more frequently, and you should check it out too. Great hiking with Ashley as always.
