Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Several other vehicles at Mt. Kinsman Trail where we started. Spotted car at Reel Brook Trail, where there is a "new" parking area on the right, a short way before the trailhead. We parked at the entrance to the trailhead, leaving room to get by. Driving up to the actual parking lot requires high clearance, entrance is rough and rocky.

Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All crossings easily hopped, though the multiple crossings of Reel Brook could be problematic in high water.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails in good shape. A couple of stepover blowdowns on Reel Brook, with some occasional muddy sections. Some mud on Kinsman Ridge too, mostly near Harrington Pond, and don't get caught thinking it will support you!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw a few out today with their humans.
Bugs
Bugs: Deer flies were the predominant pest, but weren't too terrible.

Comments
Comments: Had a really nice day up on Kinsman Ridge with Ashley, getting a breeze and soaking in some great views. Mt. Kinsman Trail was a steady approach to the ridge, and visiting Bald Peak provided a nice rest break part-way up. Popped in to the view ledges on North Kinsman, high above Kinsman Pond, and took in the various views along ledges to the south of South Kinsman. Steep and rocky fun down to Harrington Pond, then along the always beautiful Eliza Brook, before cruising out on Reel Brook, a really pleasant piece of trail. Ran into several groups of day hikers on Mt. Kinsman Trail, then AT thru-hikers for the rest of the day, all NOBO. Cold beers back at the car were well deserved!
