Comments
Comments: I took Lowe's Path all the way up, with brief detours to check out The Log Cabin and Gray Knob. The caretaker at Gray Knob sold me a 2016 RMC trail map- very nice! On descent I bore off Lowe's onto Spur Trail, stopping to check out Crag Camp. Note: the water available at the RMC camps is untreated. At or near Pentadoi, despite my best efforts to take King Ravine Trail west back to Lowe's Path, I somehow ended up on the Amphibranch Trail. By the time I figured it out, it made sense to continue downhill on the trail I was on to Route 2. Thank you to the nice family who gave me a ride back to my car at Lowe's Store.

It seemed appropriate to visit the second first lady and second president on Independence Eve. I liked this route, especially the Spur Trail, which is grassier above treeline, softer below treeline, and less rocky throughout than Lowe's Path. Amphibranch is a nice trail too.
