Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A couple blowdowns but no problem. I took out some blowdown branches. Trails well brushed. Cutoff not as well marked and with leaves covering foot path we kept an eye out for the blazes, but in that mindset it's fine.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: The mighty tough little dog didn't get much of a workout but he did need a few lifts on the ledges. We never saw them but reportedly a Lab had trouble with the ledges and so they turned around. Pepper is lucky he's in the portable dog format.

Comments
Comments: Whiteface was a last minute choice and on the ledges I wondered if I had made a mistake with a novice winter hiker with shorter reaches along. They were slippery up and down. But she got through it with new microspikes, poles and sliding pants, she found it easier going down then up using butt slides. So it turned out to be a good adventure. We saw a couple doing our limited route and a few doing the loop with Passaconaway. Light traction (microspikes or stabilicers) worn by all up high. Wintry on top with light snow and wind; Fall like at the end with a gorgeous full moon.
