Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Waterville Valley ski area access road was washed out in last night's storm. Road has barricades up. Police are apparently telling people they cannot walk up it. Heavy equipment was working on it throughout the day, but it remained closed this evening. Police were telling people to park at the Livermore trailhead and hike up the Pipeline XC ski trail.

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The Tecumseh Brook crossings were roaring and required getting shoes/feet wet.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail survived yesterday's storm, but still lots of water flowing throughout. Blowdowns have been removed. Some genius decided to take apart a decades old Forest Service stone staircase at the top crossing and use the rocks at step stones. I did what I could to repair on the fly.

Comments: Waterville Valley ski area access road was washed out in last night's storm. Road has barricades up. Police are apparently telling people they cannot walk up it. For a point of reference, the road was only partially washed out during Hurricane Irene.

One can ascend the Pipeline XC ski trail, which starts off Tripoli Road just beyond the Livermore parking lot turnoff. It's actually a fairly pleasant walk, though there are two grassy sections. The trail ends after 0.5 miles at the ski area access road split, 0.1 miles from the trailhead. Altogether, this adds about 0.6 miles and almost 300 vertical feet to the hike, one way.

Mt. Tecumseh Trail was very wet from the storm and had lots of areas of running water and mud. No washouts, but plenty of new erosion from the storm, especially on the summit loop scrambles.

Sosman Trail was also mucky.

Ski trails were damp in places and the gravel access road took a beating, but survived. Ski area staff is already out repairing it.
