Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Plenty of parking at the AMC Cardigan Lodge. We met and chatted with the Town of Alexandria road crew as they re-graded Shem Valley Road -- it's in fine form for the summer.

Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Not an issue -- in fact, a few of them were a bit (too) dry for this time of year. Not a good sign.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails were in good shape; some recent drain cleaning, blowdown removal, and even some rock work on Holt Clark Cutoff (thank you!).
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: None at all. Steady 40-mph winds on the summit probably helped a bit with that.
