Hiking Trail Conditions Report |

North Tripyramid, NH |
| Trails: |
Pine Bend Brook Trail, Scaur Ridge Trail, Livermore Trail |
| Date of Hike: |
Sunday, June 11, 2017 |
| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
pull-offs at Livermore and Pine Bend Brook trailheads have space for 2 or 3 vehicles; mine was the only one at Livermore on a Sunday morning that saw other trailhead parking areas quite full |
| Surface Conditions: |
Wet Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Significant |
| Recommended Equipment: |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
many minor stream crossings, all hoppable |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Scaur Ridge Trail is becoming overgrown in spots; Livermore Trail north of Scaur Ridge junction is, as the book says, rough, wet, and hard to follow; there are many blow-downs (not all recent), and significant stretches of the trail are basically stream beds (not always dry) on either side of the Livermore Pass. |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
I met two dogs at the summit of N. Tripyramid that had come up the north slide and didn't seem unusually tired. |
| Bugs: |
lots of gnats and some biting flies along Livermore and at the summit of N. Tripyramid. I didn't find any ticks, but I had treated my clothes with Permethrin previously and used Deet while hiking. |

| Comments: |
I had originally planned to make a loop using the Sabbaday Brook trail, but reports of high water (unconfirmed) led me instead to return via Livermore, which turned out to be less interesting than expected. (I started by biking down to the Pine Bend trailhead after parking at Livermore.) Both Scaur Ridge and Livermore north of the Scaur Ridge junction have the feel of unmaintained trails, and I saw more moose prints than footprints in the ample mud on Livermore (no actual moose, however). I wouldn't recommend the northern part of the Livermore Trail unless you really like being alone in the woods on a sparsely used route. |
