Carter Dome and Mt. Hight from Carter Notch
19-mile Brook Trail has some muddy sections in the beginning but is in great shape, with new bridges along it. We decided to go UP the steep trail to Carter Dome from Carter Notch rather than down it. It was dry, and the trail maintenance there is exceptional (kudos to the trail crew!), but you'd want to be super-careful descending. Carter-Moriah Trail was in great shape, with a few yards of snow/monorail towards Mt. Hight. Descent from Zeta Pass all dry. I really recommend this "loop." |
