Comments
Comments: Some hard-packed snow and ice patches along the Garfield Ridge Trail will make you think about traction, and if we'd started earlier or finished later, when the snow would've been even harder, I'd have used Microspikes on a few sections. Careful footing was in order in any case in sections on the upper part of this hike. A beautiful day, just a little breeze, and few people on the trails in this area. Thought I'd get this hike in, using the traditional route, before the roads close to complete the set of peaks closest to home. For the dogs, Galehead is Polly's 20th of the NH 4Ks (her first was Liberty, last winter) and Tuckerman's 27th.
