Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Stream at the very beginning is easily crossable
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: I have to sigh at the people who cut off the very end of the switchbacks
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Lots of dogs on the trail, all seemed to be doing fine. Water available up the whole Champney Falls Trail
Bugs: The black flies were out, mostly not biting but a few did. They were horrible as we were hiking out at 5.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: There was a black jacket with the gortons logo hanging on a tree when you meet with the piper trail.
Comments: It was a perfect day to be out for our first hike of the year, with so much sunshine I got a sunburn. Crazy traffic on the trail though with lots of loud groups. I didn't realize how truly popular this route is. Red and white painted trillium is out and the hobble bush is flowering. Nice to see.
