Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: There are 10 water crossings on the Castle Ravine Trail and the water was on the higher side for all crossings but it was not abnormally high for this time of the year. All crossings were made without too much difficulty if one took their time to pick their way and brought waterproof boots
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Not much trail use, but that is what makes these trails great. There were a few blowdowns on Castle Trail on our way down.

Comments
Comments: This was the second training hike for a group I am taking on a single day Presidential Traverse in June. The hike was an excellent hike although we had socked in views above Edmands col due to a low ceiling that blew in over Adams and Jefferson. There was some loose talus on the headwall section of the Castle Ravine trail, undoubtedly shaken loose over this last winter's snow. All trails below treeline were in good shape with relatively little snow- this next week should melt away what little remains on the way up and there will only be a few patches on the descent via Castle Trail. Because of little use, there are a lot of twigs and leaf litter on the trails which do make them slippery at times so watch your step and the snow fields on Jefferson are still quite deep, obscuring the trail and cairns at times.
