Comments
Comments: Steady rain on way down (early afternoon) so some slick mud and rocks in the lower sections. Used spikes for most of hike above upper crossing as there was mostly solid monorail. Rain was cleaning this off so that the dirty monorail on the way up became quite slick on the descent. Others had barebooted and two stated they wish they had traction. Traction made for quicker and easier descent for me. Hikers going right at junction for summit climb said they postholed to knees so sounded like some deeper, less packed snow on that side. Still 2-3' of snow pack in spots up high. Tripoli side looked like deeper and unpacked snow from what one could see from summit.
