Beautiful, warm day in Crawford Notch. Trail started off a little soft in the morning, and towards the top around noon started to get quite soft. Coming down off the cone was a little tricky with the soft snow, but better than dealing with a slab of ice.
On the way down, the second of the 3 steep pitches on the main Webster-Jackson trail was tricky. Was pretty much solid ice at that point with running water flowing down from all the melting.
Snowshoes car to car. I suppose I could have switched to spikes at some point, but I didn't want to risk it with the trail softening up throughout the day. |
