| Water Crossing Notes: |
Don't trust the ice bridges. Especially the one with the MSR Revo outline punched through it. Water is low but sure to change. Someone else posted that you can stay to the left of the stream at the major crossing and bushwack up to a snowmobile bridge. Seems the best bet. Bridge is a few hundred feet up from the crossing and leads right back to the main trail. Of course I left these instructions at home. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Blowdowns are all duck under, step over. Several big leaners bridging the trail. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Crazy Foot had fun but there was some deep snow and she was pretty tired by hike's end. Good hike for dogs, no tough stuff. |
|
| Bugs: |
None. |
|
| Lost and Found: |
Found a folded up AMC trail map. I thought it was a scratch ticket at first. |

Beautiful day with deep blue sky. I barebooted in about a quarter of the way then put on snowshoes. Three other people barebooted the whole way but it was tough going. One couple was going to turn back. Cheers to them for sticking it out and summitting! The skinny - ice/slush on Gale River Road, ice on first part of trail to stream crossing, new snow/drifts/softening crust below on rest of trail. About 2-3 inches of new snow at first increasing to about 8-10 inches higher up. Conditions are certainly going to change over the next couple of days to mud at first and lots of slush above. |
