Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
We took the well-trod bushwhack up to the third crossing of Little River, which was rock-hoppable today -- but only barely. Other minor crossings no problem. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
A couple of blowdowns on the bushwhack, large enough to require a chainsaw for removal. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Tons of mud for Tuckerman and Polly, followed by the wonder of snow -- a near-perfect day, as far as they were concerned. Crossing Little River may be frightening for small dogs. Water elsewhere on the route not an issue. Polly had some trouble up high with ice balls in her paws due to the wetness of the snow. (We all had a bit of balling beneath our Microspikes.) |

| Bugs: |

|
| Lost and Found: |
I lost a red bandanna somewhere in the first mile or two. |

| Comments: |
The last vestiges of autumn down low, and nearly full winter up high. We did fine in Microspikes today, but another snowfall will necessitate snowshoes on this route above 3,500 feet. A terrific day with Loanshark, his wife Liz, and their son in law James. |
