Snowshoes the entire way! Trail was packed but still soft to the height of land (about 1.5 miles) on the Rocky Branch Trail. From here it got interesting! Previous groups took a hard right hand turn (no idea where this went but a trail eventually came out up high on the Engine Hill bushwhack). Thanks to Bill Cronin who started earlier and broke out the actual trail from here, and a pleasant route along the Engine Hill wack. If you see the snow cave not far from this intersection, from a group yesterday who camped out, then you are on the Rocky Branch trail. Before the last campsite area on the Isolation Trail, the route deviates a bit from the actual trail with some side paths. We stayed to the left all of the side paths, except the first one which took a hard left in the opposite direction, and eventually connected with the Davis Path. Another bluebird day to celebrate the last day of winter with Kristy and Tara! Congrats to Gypsy Hiker who finished her SSW48! We saw only 4 other people on the trail, one who also finished his single season! |
