Solid boilerplate everywhere off trail today, making Fool Killer an easy whack. Left PBB Tr at its closest approach to the ridge, heading south. Steep ascent to a gorgeous open broad ridge loaded with moose sign and one shy critter. Summit sign and canister in good shape. After a descent to Sabbaday Brook, the rest of the day was on trail. Easy footing except when side hilling on steep slopes- micro spikes were adequate here, but I can understand why previous posters suggested crampons. Surprised but pleased to meet 5 other hikers! |
