Comments
Comments: A great day to be out.

We originally planned Galehead Mountain and South Twin, but got a late start and ran out of time. Plus, the Gale River Trail is a bit slow-moving right now (flooded/running water in some sections down low, water crossings open, and post-holed narrow monorail higher up), such that by the time we reached the Twinway we were just out of time. Trail conditions resembled those of early spring.

Snowshoes were crucial for avoiding crotch-deep postholing on Frost Trail, Garfield Ridge Trail, and upper mile or two of Gale River Trail.

As mentioned, water levels were pretty high early in the day but eased up a bit as temperatures dropped in the afteroon. Gale River rapids were muddy in the morning but by afternoon had cleared up considerably.

We saw evidence of one other person, but otherwise had the trails to ourselves.
