Comments
Comments: When the snow was soft, someone postholed the Jewell all the way to tree line. I don't know how they could put up with it as many, many were 3' deep. Must have been a struggle and with total disregard for other hikers.
Other than that, the walking condition were quite good with micro spikes. Snow was very hard on the Jewell, and after that, there was a fair amount of ice. We contoured around Clay with fairly good results. Only a couple small spruce traps. The wind was a little problem, with the Mt. Washington forecast predicting 40 to 60 mph plus winds. I'd say they were pretty much on.
