Comments
Comments: South Ridge trail was unbroken since last storm, which was no issue until I got up toward Rimrock...deep drifts and steep. From Rimrock I opted to take Skyland to West Ridge and summit. Skyland was deep in places. West Ridge had some earlier ski tracks and wasn't bad. Once you get on the cone...snow is pretty much blown off except leeward side of some of the ledges...otherwise breakable crust, or spotty ice on rocks. You'll want either mountaineering snowshoes with aggressive traction or microspikes for the top...no need for crampons. Wind was fierce on cone...ended up going on all fours for a short stretch. Great views today!
