Heard several gunshots during first hour of the hike, a reminder that it's hunting season. Put your orange on!
I changed into Microspikes at the junction with the Garfield Ridge Trail but I should have done so earlier. Others we met were barebooting, but there's lots of ice on the trail beginning at about 3,400 hundred feet, and then packed snow beginning at about 3,800-3,900 feet.
This was my first hike of the season with the winter pack, and oh man, the waist belt is a little tighter than I remember it. Marriage will do that to a guy, I hear.
Photos to come in a day or two. |
