Comments
Comments: After a few days of unseasonable warm temperatures, we hit the trail and were not sure what type of conditions to expect. The warm weather had melted enough of the top layer of the visible monorail to soften it up during the early flat sections. On the steep part of the trail through the brook valley and past that it actually had allowed it to ice up just enough to make it slick. These conditions were also present higher up and especially any section that had seen a lot of butt sliding. Once on the ridge and then between the peaks, the trail is not even visible at times and when it was the trail was quite rough. We used snowshoes car-to-car and I recommend more do that as the trail needs a lot more packing down especially on the ridge and between the peaks. Two groups behind us were adding to the postholes already visible on the trail.

Butt sliding on the way down was fun, but due to the ice that had formed on the steeps and higher up it actually made it painful. I am bruised and chaffed from the slide. The steep sections got dangerous in a few spots so do your best to stay in control or slowly and carefully walk down (also not easy due to how slick it was).
