Comments
Comments: Wore microspikes until the Mt Avalon spur. Started breaking through the ice crust at about this point so the snowshoes went on. Some deeper drifts higher up on Avalon Tr. Took Willey Range out to Willey where the drifts were deeper yet. I was sinking quite a bit even with snowshoes. Retraced my steps back to Field and encountered several other snowshoers and barebooters. From this point the trail was quite messy with postholes. The Tom Spur is quite choppy too. Put microspikes back on for the descent down A to Z with no troubles. The winds could be heard along the ridge but was fairly sheltered from them.
