Comments
Comments: Sawyer River Road is well packed out by snowmobile traffic. Some snowshoed, some skied, snow booted, skiers having the advantage.
Signal Ridge Trail was broken out, but not firmly packed. Only saw experienced hikers out today, all of whom were wearing snowshoes. Barebooting would be a disaster higher up at this juncture.
The Signal Ridge relo is not broken out. Folks are sticking to the original trail/easier crossings.
There is a crust below perhaps 2,000 feet, however higher up it's more of a granular and packed powder. Side slope of Signal Ridge is filling in nicely. Observation tower steps had some rime, but were not icy.
Overall, I suspect snowpack is 1 to 3 feet, generally favoring the latter.
