| Comments: |
trail was wet and sloppy in the first mile or so and then pretty dry up onto the ridge with some wet sections and water running on the trail and ledges. ice and crusty snow started a bit below 4k feet, but was generally minimal and just necessitated a little caution. crossings were up a bit and some stepping stones were submerged, but they were easy if you don't mind stepping in a little water. some of the big duck under blowdowns that are not a concern now will be a pain in a couple of months. started carrying more of a cold weather oriented pack the last couple of weeks. still no real need for traction on this trail, but there may be soon. a beautiful, cold, windy day on carrigain. great views as always and the wind had a nice wintery bite to it. great day to be out.
